Check the recent performance of the share you are considering buying to get an idea of what the market thinks.
A fall in the price of a share could represent a good buying opportunity or it could be an indication that the company is struggling and is best avoided. Likewise, a share which has risen rapidly in a short period may now be overpriced and due for correction.
While it's difficult to get your timing exactly right, you can limit the maximum amount you pay for the shares and the minimum amount you'd be willing to sell them for.
See Limits and alerts for more details about our dealing limit options.
Investing on a regular basis can be a good way of averaging out the cost of your investment (commonly referred to as 'pound cost averaging').
